when crowned she’ll be crying.

The extra pay will be handy,
Cruella will buy more sour candy.

She is too young
for such a sharp tongue.

So Karma may have to slap,

St. Patrick’s Day

The Pagans gave us a holiday
the whole world celebrates it, St. Patrick’s Day

with shamrocks and green beer
St. Patrick drove the snakes over here.

Along with the help of wee people
he replaced the pagans with Christian steeples

Driving away the snakes, I’ve been told
St. Patrick was very bold

He did not use stakes
to drive away the snakes

He drove them from the highest rock
and from the lowland’s livestock

Deliverance for the castle and the crowns
freeing the cities and towns

Villagers danced in the street
no more snakes, what a treat

pray they get what is theirs someday
thank the pagans for St. Patrick’s Day!

The Circle

Oh, the Circle I do weave
It leads to disaster, I do believe.
I take pills in the morning for pain
And yet there is nothing to be gained.
At night I want to take a hit
I want crack, just a little bit.
Just a little bit leads to more
I must see my dealer, I am out the door
My money is always gone.
It goes up in smoke or out my bong.
When the night is getting late
I realize it’s my life I hate.
Friends I have are very few
I find that only one is true.
I just hate it when I tweak
And I do it at least once a week.
Push, brillo and tube drives me mad
But how I need them, oh, how sad!
Down my lungs or up my nose
That is where my money goes.
I need it day in and I need it day out,
The endless cycle makes me want to shout,
“Oh, will this Circle ever stop?

Vet’s Poem

The year was 1974
Vietnam, one year more

We came home on leave
What we saw we could not believe

The hippies were marching in the street
Vietnam veterans were being beat

With bullhorns blaring
giving speeches, lots of swearing

It’s Johnson, Nixon, and the veterans they hate
said something about sending them past hell’s gate

I wore my uniform thought they would be proud
Instead I received boo’s, jeer’s, and spit from the crowd

accused me of killing little babies
But how? I was a corpsman in the Navy

To them it did not matter
It was my blood they began to splatter

As they made their asinine points
they passed around plenty of joints

They claimed we stayed high on smoke
Before taking a second toke

Gone is the war in Vietnam
Does anyone except the vets give a damn?

Taxes

Washington kicked the Brits’ asses
To end unfair taxes
Heroes like Jackson and Farragut
Stopped the Brits from reinstating
Taxes, most forgot
Then came Lincoln with the income tax
He sure stuck it in our ass
Don’t forget WWI and WWII
With tax after tax, all new
To stop the domino effect in Viet Nam
Higher and higher taxes, Damn!
Sure sounds dumb
Taxing our income
But it doesn’t stop there
And the government doesn’t care!
Taxed by our state
Don’t file late
Our money taxed by the county
Depletes our bounty
We are even taxed by
Our beloved city
Oh what a pity
They tax our smokes
Even food like artichokes
Tax on our cars, telephones, gasoline, oh gee
But is it necessary
Not my cable TV!

Her middle name was Charlane.
Charlane’s first name is Vicki,
getting rid of her middle name would be tricky.
Mae is the middle name of Janet.
Oh how she wishes she could just ban it.
They thought they could make things better,
By getting together.
These mixed up dames,
traded middle names.
On the seventh month and twenty third day,
they became Janet Charlane and Vicki Mae.
Now happiness abounds,
in both their home towns.
And I have run out of things to say,
